The Queanbeyan library does not have wiFi so its down to that Scottish Restaurant with the golden arches to complete module 3. Maccas would not let me search on the Atomic site but the google docs page had enough info for me to learn to upload & share docs from my mac.
This will be wonderful in theory - not having to all be in the one place at the same time to work & having access to info that may otherwise be stored on the school server. I am still worried about security & access issues - what happens if it crashes?
As for applications - it will be great for teachers to access our IAP's to make changes throughout the year - not having to keep track of which version have I uploaded onto the Intranet. The revision history section allowing the author to see what changes have been made & when eliminates the worry of losing info accidently when someone edits.
For students the ability to work online on a task together without having to be in the same place - or have someone complain they spent hours working on the wrong version is great. Again the history component allows the teacher to check and see which student is doing most of the work.
The interactive nature of producing something collaboratively that the whole group can work on at any time - read & edit - will encourage them to do their best & the ability to instantly comment on work will reduce the time taken to complete tasks.
