Module 2

The formal definition of a 'blog' short for 'web log' is an on line journal or diary.
I have read friends blogs and found them a great way of following their overseas travels or catching up with what is happening in their lives. A perfect example of this is the blog of an employee of my husband. Her fourth child was recently born with Downs Syndrome, a couple of months later she was also diagnosed with Leiukemia. Liz's blog keeps us informed as to what is happening now.  We are not asking them to repeat what is going on for the 50th time a day - but we are also able to track Lucy and her progress thru Chemo.
Blogging has lots of potential for use in the school environment. What a benefit it could be to a group of students following the blog of someone living out something they are studying in class. Students being able to record and share their learning experiences, for those in group work to record their progress.  For the shy student in the class who is reluctant to voice an opinion in class but may open up in a journal entry. For our students with special needs, the use of technology is one of the best ways to get them motivated and interested in learning. Lets not forget that students enjoy blogging & are practising their writing skills without realising they are doing so.
